  • This project was made to be a source of direction, technology, and hope for the immigrants crossing the border.

2. CONTENT: What was the issue, need, idea or opportunity addressed by this project?
  • To help the immigrants crossing the Mexican/U.S Border find the nearest water cache and serve as a survival kit through poetry as well.

3: FORM: What is the medium that was used to address or embody the content?
  • By using a phone app which transmits through simple compass navigation device, aural, and haptic cues.

4. STAKEHOLDERS: Which are the groups or individuals that were invested in the project?
  • Ricardo Dominguez (Co-founder of EDT), Bret Stalbaum, UCSD, Water Stations Inc., Border Angels

5. AUDIENCE: For whom was this project conceived?
  • For the immigrants crossing the border.

6. ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES: How were the stakeholders, audiences, and others engaged/connected to the project?
  • Both Water Stations Inc. and Border Angels have water cache spots and EDT used these locations as wave points to guide them to water.

7. GOAL: What are this project's objectives?
  • To serve as a guide to the people crossing the deserts disoriented of where they are and give them hope and a survival kit to get through it.

8. VALUES: What were the project's guiding values or core beliefs? How were they expressed in the process?
  • To transmit poetry containing directions to those crossing the Mexican/U.s border.

Goals?
  • UCSD and EDT/ b.a.n.g lab

10: OUTCOMES: What were the results of this project?

  • They received a lot of backlash from people, especially when it was talked about through Fox News. It caused controversy in America and it also put the EDT under investigation. They also received a lot of support from other organizations or people who approved of this.

Assignment: Aesthetic Evangelists - Due 1/30    Three key ideas in the text that resonate with me: The first is the idea of the "new public art," or what we would call "community engaged art." The article discusses the transition from art displayed in public sites to community based projects that have the goal of collaboration and focus more on the process than the end result/outcome. This intrigues me because before this class I was honestly very unaware of this form of art-making and its growing prevalence. Another idea that resonates with me is when the author talked about community based public art of today drawing on the urban reform rhetoric of the past both consciously and subconsciously.
