1. Context:

For years many immigrants have crossed the border illegally, the fact that the U.S government still doesn't see the issue is unreal. The people crossing from Mexico to the U.S do it for one reason, a better life. Mexico is known for its nonending violence, the drug war, poverty, and the amount of corruption within its government that is basically only good for one reason, fucking their people over. On the other side of the border, there are many discriminatory and myths about immigrants, they lie, they steal, they are criminals is what is said and assumed by ignorants. In many cases, the Border Patrol take matters into their own hands and often get away with racial actions by means of violence to even murder. With the advancements in technology nowadays, it has become more of a benefit for the immigrants and "coyotes" who are the guides that travel with immigrants to get them across the border.

2. Content:

Immigrants crossing the border by the hundreds each year, but the main issue is the number of deaths that accumulate throughout every crossing due to dehydration and lack of food. Mainly due to the fact that they are walking through unknown terrain and risk getting lost, bitten by snakes etc.

3.Form:

Using low-cost cell phones to provide poetry over an app to increase the individual's chances of safely crossing the border, sort of like having a guide to keep you going. The GPS, which stands for "Geo Poetic System" the controversial part was that it leads the individual through routes amongst the border, as well as

4. Stakeholder:

The stakeholders seem to be the artist in the Electronic Disturbance Theater and the immigrants who possess the mobile phone with the app.

5. Audience:

The immigrants as well as the U.S border patrol and any other group involved.

6. Engagement Strategies:

The general purpose of the app is to recite poetry through a cellular device that also provides a navigation system for the user. The app also vibrates when there is a water cache, food cache, or area of road.

7. Goal:

The project's objective is to help assist the immigrants who cross the U.S border every day, the fact that they face a lot of struggle in their journey is only a small reason as to why this app was created.

8. Values:

This form of assisting immigrants through their journey to provide a safer, clear route and increasing their chances of survival is something that can't be looked down upon. These immigrants all have one goal in mind, which is to cross safely and create a better life in the U.S.

9. Resources:

The Motorola or any cell phone and the resources that were used to create and alter the app as well as the GPS within the phone. Being able to create and accept algorithmic pattern to represent and create a virtual route for the individual is not only beneficial but life-saving.

10. Outcomes:

The end result of the project was a success even though it received a lot of controversies the project helped and did what it was supposed to, which was to save immigrant lives who cross the U.S border. Even though

Jeremy Griffith - The Roof is on Fire

1. CONTEXT: What were the circumstances that framed the meaning and process of this project? There are many minority teens in low-income, low-opportunity areas who have unheard voices. Their self-esteem isn't cultivated and all of their portrayal in the media is negative. 2. CONTENT: What was the issue, need, idea or opportunity addressed by this project? Teen voices were unheard, opinions of them were based on negative media stereotypes, and many of them had very poor self-esteem. 3: FORM: What is the medium that was used to address or embody the content? Immersive theatre in the form of car-conversations that audience members could eavesdrop on. 4. STAKEHOLDERS: Which are the groups or individuals that were invested in the project? The teenagers were very invested because of their desire to free their voices. The adults who helped were invested because they wanted to help these kids start to change the narrative. And the d...

Assignment: Aesthetic Evangelists - Due 1/30    Three key ideas in the text that resonate with me: The first is the idea of the "new public art," or what we would call "community engaged art." The article discusses the transition from art displayed in public sites to community based projects that have the goal of collaboration and focus more on the process than the end result/outcome. This intrigues me because before this class I was honestly very unaware of this form of art-making and its growing prevalence. Another idea that resonates with me is when the author talked about community based public art of today drawing on the urban reform rhetoric of the past both consciously and subconsciously. This stood out because it's an old adage that history repeats itself and I think it's interesting that the times we live in now call for a callback to this type of work and a more curious examination of what this can do for people and their communities.
